The short version: the app sends nothing anywhere. This website collects an email address only if you type one into the box and then confirm it.

The app
Maya makes no network connections at all. No account, no sign-in, no sync, no analytics, no crash reporting. If you unplug the internet, Maya carries on exactly as before.
Everything it keeps lives in one folder on your own computer:

Delete that folder and everything Maya knows is gone. Nobody, including the author, has a copy.
What the app looks at on your computer
To decide when to visit, Maya asks the operating system a small number of narrow questions:
- How long since the last key or mouse movement. A single number of seconds. This is how it knows you stepped away. It cannot see which keys.
- Whether a window is filling the whole screen, and whether something is keeping the display awake — so it stays quiet during a video or a slideshow. It reads window sizes only, never window titles or contents.
- Battery level and whether you are charging, for the low-battery reminders.
- Whether the screen is locked.
It does not read your keystrokes, your screen, your clipboard, your files, your microphone or your camera. It does not take screenshots. It does not record which apps you use.
This website
The pages you are reading load no fonts, scripts or images from anyone else, set no cookies, and run no analytics. Your visit is not logged beyond whatever ordinary server logs the host keeps.
If you switch the site between light and dark, that one choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the page does not flip back on your next visit. It never leaves your browser, and clearing your browsing data removes it.
If you sign up for update emails
That box is optional. The download does not depend on it.
- What is collected: your email address, the date you confirmed it, and the wording you agreed to.
- Why: to send you a message when there is a new version of Maya. Nothing else.
- Consent: double opt-in. You get one message asking you to confirm, and you are not on the list until you click it. If you never confirm, the address is deleted within 7 days.
- How long: until you unsubscribe. Every message has a one-click unsubscribe link.
- Who else sees it: the email provider that sends the messages. [Name your email provider here and link their privacy policy.]
- Deletion: write to the address below and it will be deleted, and you will get a reply confirming it.
Your address is never sold, never shared for advertising, and never used for anything but a new version announcement.
Children
Maya is not directed at children and collects nothing that would identify anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the date at the top changes and anyone on the email list is told.

You do not have to take this on trust. Maya makes no network connections, so a network monitor — Little Snitch or LuLu on a Mac, Wireshark or the Windows Resource Monitor — will show nothing leaving your machine, no matter how long you leave it running.
